This is what Respite looks like.

Thanks, Mom. We really needed that. <3

I had some rustic wood shelves made up for me by a local artisan, since I don't own any tools of my own, or know how to source out live-edge wood. I had him make me a simple "L" shape to keep it simple. I bought the brackets used for $2 a piece! The whole project came to under $125 total, for a custom 5ft x 8ft corner "desk".
Now my kids can sit at a chair next to me and colour or work on projects.

We also mounted the TV on the wall. It's a 42" tv that I use as a monitor. We put the computer tower up on a high shelf in the hallway closet behind the wall it's mounted on to keep it toddler safe. I find towers such an eyesore, so this was a great solution. Besides, that top shelf in the hallway closet was just a junk magnet anyways!

We just put the shelf up today, so I haven't had a chance to arrange everything to make it look nice and balanced yet. Nor have I had time to hide all the wires and speakers, so I just cropped them out of the photo for now.

Oh, Opalina was so precious! Her reaction to the bubbles had me laughing so hard. Every time I would start to blow the bubbles, she'd gasp! Then she'd close her eyes and scrunch up her face in anticipation of them coming towards her. Then she'd open her eyes, turn around and chase them!
I'm going to have to charge the battery on the video camera and get a video of this preciousness!

21 months is a really fun age!

I really needed a window treatment solution that would fit behind our new couch. It also had to be able to darken the room, and give us privacy at night, while still allowing us to open them during the day to supervise the kids and see our beautiful view.

Oh, and did I mention I have no money?
Yeah.

So, this was my solution. I already had the blinds and the fabric, so I cut the fabric into 4 pieces and sewed it onto the bamboo blinds using upholstery thread and a curved needle. Each blind took about an hour to complete. It took some patience. And two days, since I had to wait for the baby to nap before I could work on it.

The end result!

They roll up individually like roman shades. I love how the top flap from the bamboo blinds hangs over the top of the blinds. It ties in the black and white fabric with our natural coloured sofa.

So, it was a free project! However, if I had to buy all the materials, it wouldn't have been too expensive. The blinds are $17 each at Walmart and the fabric was around $16 from Ikea.

I wonder, each time, if it will be his last time playing with his stuffies. He melted my heart today, my Mustard Man.

A note I slipped into some paperwork I needed to send the government to get some money back from them.

It'll work, right? Just to make sure, I used a sparkly pink glitter gel pen.

Lining up all her favourite books to choose from is like a special kind of heaven for this baby. A girl after my own heart!

My backyard, first thing in the morning. Trying to take a photo of the eerie, still dark and almost light light was pretty impossible. The fog, lifting off the mountain is something I'll never get tired of seeing.
This is taken while standing in my dining room, and looking out the back door.
We're lucky to live here.

Turns out, testing my auto-focus settings were the ony photos taken this day. So, a photo of what's on my wall next to my computer is my photo of the day. :)

What's this? Sun? No snow? No sub-zero temperatures?

We emerge from our cave house and rub our eyes, squinting at the sun, raising our arms to sheild their strong rays. There is mumbling, and the shuffling of feet as we drag our four bodies...... outdoors.

This is the first time Opalina Ballerina has been at the playground since she learned how to walk! Sure, she's been walking for 5 months. But it's been a looooong five months of winter.

When Mustard Man was a baby, we had this exact toy for him. We bought it at Superstore in early 2002 for his first birthday. As he grew up and it was long gone, he would tell us memories he had of his precious, plush car. It was a fond memorie for us all.

Then, at a rummage sale one day, 10 years later, I see it!! Someone had the EXACT toy for sale at their table! They sold it to me for a toonie! I can't tell you how excited I was to see my second baby, a decade later, playing with this obscure toy! And she loves it!
